I have led web strategy and digital transformation projects for hundreds of clients covering almost all sectors but with extensive experience with museums, associations, government and telecommunications.

    As a contractor working closely with the Digital Marketing Group at Alcatel-Lucent, Erik has been heavily involved in the following projects:
    - Working with 3rd party suppliers during transition to a mobile friendly responsive design for Alcatel-Lucent's corporate web presence.
    - Developing the structure, navigation and overall approach for international sites for various languages include French, German, Spanish, Italian and Turkish.
    - Proposed and helped develop a faceted navigation interface for Alcatel-Lucent's portfolio to resolve the challenge of overlap with the existing product categories.
    - Working extensively with internal stakeholders to develop a consistent nomenclature and structure for technologies, functions and industries to be used as part of the faceted search interface.
    - Restructuring the Alcatel-Lucent Home page and global navigation to improve conversions and facilitate ongoing updates.
    - Working with the Alcatel-Lucent Digital Marketing Group to provide ongoing Information Architecture and User Experience consultation and guidance for numerous smaller projects and activities.

  • Canadian Union of Public Employees, Web Strategy, Redesign and Launch

    In spring of 2011, CUPE selected Longship to help them develop a strategy for the redesign and redevelopment of their national web presence located at cupe.ca. Erik worked with CUPE to identify business goals and priorities, audience needs and to develop a revised architecture and interaction design to meet the needs of CUPEs various audiences. This included audience research, stakeholder interviews, multiple focus sessions in both English and French, online surveys, usability testing and…

    In spring of 2011, CUPE selected Longship to help them develop a strategy for the redesign and redevelopment of their national web presence located at cupe.ca. Erik worked with CUPE to identify business goals and priorities, audience needs and to develop a revised architecture and interaction design to meet the needs of CUPEs various audiences. This included audience research, stakeholder interviews, multiple focus sessions in both English and French, online surveys, usability testing and card-sorting exercises. The resulting research informed the development of a revised information architecture and interaction design along with key performance indicators and an analytics and measurement strategy.
    In addition, Erik helped develop revised publishing processes and governance structures, developed a new approach to web content for CUPE, managed the graphic design of the new site and played an integral role in the development of an RFP and selection of the development firm.
    During development, Longship was heavily involved in the project, guiding the development firm, organizing user acceptance testing and usability studies and evaluating the development work to ensure it aligned with CUPE's needs.
